During a vacation on Brač you can expect beautiful places, lots of exciting activities and fantastic attractions.
Visit Bol and windsurf Golden horn
One of the most popular towns on Brač is definitely Bol in the south of the island. Here you will enjoy a wide range of restaurants, wineries and cafes. Of all the beaches in all Croatia, the Golden horn is the most iconic.
Hike Vidova Gora
While many would love to spend their holiday enjoying the Croatian sunshine on the beautiful beaches of Bol, many also love to explore the sights of the Island and the natural challenges that it has to offer. The Vidova Gora Mountains are yet another stunning feature of a holiday at the Brac islands. Being the highest peak in all the Adriatic islands, it is definitely a challenge, especially for those who decide to venture to the top. Located on the south side of the island and just north of the Bol coast, it’s also a perfect place to get to without having to travel far
Discover Supetar
Supetar is one of the most popular holiday resorts on Brač and it is the largest town on the island. It is located on the north coast and can be easily reached by ferry from Split. Especially the harbor with the small old town is uniquely beautiful here, where cozy restaurants and konobas line the waterfront and form the tourist center. Also worth seeing is the parish church of Supetar, which essentially characterizes the picturesque townscape. The beaches of Supetar are also fantastic and very suitable for a relaxing beach vacation on Brač.
Sample some local wines at Stina Winery
Stina Winery on the harbour in Bol is a conveniently located winery if you enjoy wine or want to learn a thing or two about Croatian wine. There is no shortage of places to try local wine on Brač Island but Stina Winery’s location on the harbor is unbeatable. A selection of cheese served alongside bread and olives are offered with their own variety of wines.
Get Active
On Brač you can hit the hiking trails and enjoy majestic views along the way. The most popular hiking trails are from Bol to Vidova Gora summit, Murvica to Dragon’s Cave, Nerezisca to Blaca Hermitage, Farska to Blaca Hermitage, and Sumartin to Planik.
Brač is the perfect destination for mountain biking. Many cycling routes head to Vidova Gora, the highest summit on the island. If you prefer something a little less challenging the easiest cycling route is a short 16 km from Sumartin through Selca and Novo Selo, back to Sumartin.
Scuba diving, sea kayaking, kite-boarding and windsurfing give you an opportunity to plunge into the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea. A fishing excursion is an alternative option.
Try special Brač’s cuisine
The food prepared on Brač Island is local, organic and of course seasonal. Food culture is an essential part of the lives of local inhabitants and has a long tradition: freshly caught fish from the sea, locally grown vegetables, sheep’s and goat’s cheese from the inland, extra virgin olive oil from trees that have grown here for centuries a typical Plavac mali wine – an excellent homemade red wine, especially known in the southern parts of Brac Island.
Reveal Blaca Hermitage (Cave Monastery)
A real highlight and one of the most interesting things to do on Brač is a visit to the beautiful monastery complex of the Hermitage Blaca. Also known as the cave monastery, this mystical site is located directly in the interior of the island on a huge cliff and can only be reached by a hike. Today, the Blaca Hermitage is a small museum where you can admire artifacts from the monarchy and astronomical paraphernalia, such as ancient telescopes.
Visit Dragon cave
One of the most special and unique things to do in Brač is visiting the Dragon cave. It is called The Dragon’s cave because of the relief of the Dragon in it. It was a temple and dwelling of the Glagolitic priests. It is famous for its rock art showing dragons and other strange creatures. Historians aren’t sure about the origin of this place, but this makes it just more intriguing and mysterious.
