If you only have 48 hours to spend in Hvar, it’s important to plan your time carefully in order to make the most of your visit. Here’s a suggested itinerary for the perfect two days in Hvar:
Day 1
Morning: Explore Hvar Town
Start your day in the beautiful and historic Hvar Town. Visit the Hvar Cathedral a stunning example of Renaissance architecture. The cathedral is located in the central square of Hvar Town and has a bell tower that offers a beautiful view of the town and the surrounding area.
Next, head to the Arsenal, which was built in the 13th century and now houses a collection of art and artifacts related to Hvar’s history. It’s located in the main square, and its baroque facade is a beautiful example of local architecture.
After the Arsenal, head to the Franciscan Monastery, which is home to a beautiful cloister, library, and collection of paintings. The monastery was built in the 15th century, and its peaceful gardens are a great place to relax and reflect.
Afternoon: Beach time
Spend the afternoon at one of Hvar’s many beautiful beaches. Zlatni Rat is one of the most popular, with its unique shape and crystal-clear waters. Dubovica is another great option, with its secluded cove and crystal-clear water. Sveta Nedjelja is another beautiful beach located on the south side of the island.
There are several other beaches on Hvar that are worth visiting. Mekićevica Beach is a secluded cove located near the village of Milna, and is a great spot for swimming and sunbathing. Pokonji Dol Beach is located on the west side of Hvar Town and offers a wide range of activities, from kayaking to beach volleyball.
If you’re looking for a more secluded beach experience, consider taking a boat trip to one of the island’s more remote beaches. Robinson Beach, located on the eastern side of the island, is a beautiful spot that’s only accessible by boat.
Evening: Sunset at Fortica and dinner in Hvar Town
After a relaxing afternoon at the beach, hike up to Fortica, a hilltop fortress that offers stunning views of Hvar Town and the surrounding islands. The hike takes about 30 minutes, and the view from the top is well worth it. You can enjoy a glass of local wine and watch the sunset over the Adriatic Sea at the hilltop bar.
After the sunset, head back to Hvar Town for dinner at one of its many excellent restaurants. Konoba Menego serves traditional Dalmatian cuisine, while Dalmatino offers Mediterranean and international dishes. After dinner, head to one of the town’s lively bars, such as Carpe Diem or Kiva, for drinks and dancing.
Day 2
Morning: Boat trip to Pakleni Islands
On your second day, take a boat trip to the Pakleni Islands. The islands are known for their secluded coves and crystal-clear waters. You can hire a boat in Hvar Town or take a taxi boat to the islands. Palmižana is the most popular island to visit, with its beautiful sandy beach and excellent restaurants. However, other islands like Marinkovac, Jerolim, and Stipanska offer beautiful beaches and great swimming spots.
Afternoon: Wine tasting in Jelsa
Head to the town of Jelsa, located on the northern side of the island, for a wine tasting experience. Jelsa is one of the most important wine-producing regions on the island. Visit one of the local wineries, such as Tomić or Duboković, and sample some of the island’s famous wines. You can also take a walk through the town’s historic center, with its beautiful churches, narrow streets, and charming squares.
Evening: Dinner in Stari Grad
For dinner, head to the town of Stari Grad, which is located on the other side of the island. Stari Grad is known for its quaint streets, charming houses, and traditional Dalmatian cuisine. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, such as Kod Damira or Konoba Batana. After dinner, take a walk through the town’s historic center, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Hvar Town is known for its nightlife, and there are many bars and clubs to choose from. If you’re looking for a more laid-back atmosphere, consider visiting a wine bar such as Wine Bar Paradox or The Wine Shop. If you’re in the mood for dancing, check out one of the town’s nightclubs, such as Carpe Diem Beach Club or Veneranda. Or end your day with a beach party at one of Hvar’s famous nightclubs – Hula Hula.
